Cherokee-M Construction - Rings and bulkheads

April 5-13, 2003:

Carbon-laminating the centering rings and bulkheads, using Aeropoxy (R2032 Resin and PH3660 hardener) and 5.7 oz. bidirectional carbon fabric, both from Aricraft Spruce. This is probably way overkill for strength. The rings and bulkheads are 1/2" birch aircraft plywood. On the other hand, it did help a lot to prevent the rings from splitting when I drilled them later for the retainer and conduits. And besides, I've got a foodsaver and I'm going to use it, darn it.

If two weeks seems like a long time for this, it's because at the same time I was carbon-laminating the edges of the remaining two fins. The rings and bulkheads were actually really easy. The fins were a pain.
