Abstract painters begin exploring where the eye meets the imagination.
My range of techniques and content goes from the bright, bold, heavy dramatic of Abstract Expressionism to the subtle, smooth metallic of Industrial Minimalism -- from the broad color fields of ROTHKO to the intricate color play of VASARELY to the shading innuendoes of DIEBENKORN.
I scoop up color from the world of vivid sunsets and dawns, of moody changing sea vistas, and of vibrant volcano atmospherics. I spread them on the canvas in horizontal fields, stack them up in stratified layers, or march them across vertically -sometimes with abandon; sometimes with the precision of a bar code. Under, over or between the colors I swipe flashes and iridescences of molten metal and of light reflections on shiny surfaces.
The daughter of Italian immigrants, grounded in the study of art and art history, and well traveled to the artistic centers of the Western world, I live in Hawaii on a cliff over the Pacific Ocean.
